PAL Retail SNES Systems

Snes Arena

This section features many different combinations of the SNES systems that were released in Australia & Europe (PAL).

Super Nintendo Control Set
Rarity:
Very common.
The Original box that graced us with the all mighty replacement to the NES. Not much to look at though. Came with just one controller, AC power cable, R/F connecter and the usual instruction booklets.

Super Nintendo
Rarity:
Not found easily.
The first combination of game and system together in harmony. Super Mario World was a fitting choice. Nintendo decided it would be nice to include an extra control pad, for all the 2-player gaming needs. A very similar box design to the above just a bit bigger.

Action Pack
Rarity:
Fairly rare.
Included was the Super Nintendo Super Scope, with the 6 games in 1 cartridge for use with the scope.

Super Game Boy
Rarity:
Fairly rare.
Included was the Super Nintendo with the utility to play Game Boy Games on the it called the Super Game Boy. Zelda and Starwing were also included in the bundle.

Super Mario All-Stars
Rarity:
Very Common.
Now this was the box that I received my first SNES in. Ah the memories. This is a very common combination box that appears regularly with second hand systems. Unfortunately the Super Mario All-Stars game came with no box of it's own.

Mario Paint
Rarity:
Rare.
This system pack had Mario Paint, that uses a mouse with mouse pad in replacement of the controller. The box also had Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart and one control pad included.

Grand Prix Pack
Rarity:
Average.
The very popluar Super Mario Kart bundled with the snes. Only one controller though, so another must be purchased to get in some of that multiplayer Mario Kart goodness.

Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing
Rarity:
The game is easy to find, but not the system box.
Unfortunately another game released with the SNES to have only one control pad.

Street Fighter II
Rarity:
Many appear around Europe & some in Australia.
This combo featured the original Street Fighter II game, which proved hugely popular amongst many gamers.

Street Fighter II Turbo
Rarity:
Appears every now and then.
Now this was a killer box, that looked the part. Even though we all know that Sagat is a fag in Street Fighter II, his presence on this box still looks cool.

Killer Instinct
Rarity:
Average.
Another decent fighting game.

Killer Instinct
Rarity:
Rare.
A variation of the Killer Instinct system box.

Starwing
Rarity:
Fairly common.
Starwing was used to show off the FX chip that the snes could use to provide 3D environments on a 16-Bit console. The only other console at the time to produce these 3D visuals was Sega's 32X add-on to the Megadrive (Genesis).

Donkey Kong Crate
Rarity:
Rare.
There are at least 2 different versions of the snes bundle with the game DKC. Here's one of those boxes labeld the 'Donkey Kong Country Crate'.

Donkey Kong Country
Rarity:
Fairly rare.
Another version of the Donkey Kong Country Combo.

Pirate Pack
Rarity:
Fairly rare.
The second Donkey Kong game to be combined with the snes in one nifty box.

Superstar Soccer
Rarity:
Rare.
The game bundled in the picture is Superstar Soccer, which was placed behind a clear plastc cover over a hole in the front cover of the main box. A few other games were bundled with this package including Disney's Aladdin.

FIFA Soccer
Rarity:
Fairly rare.
Another soccer game, this time it's FIFA Soccer that gets some combo action happening.

Mario's 5 Game Value Pack
Rarity:
Not sure about any Australian release yet.
Mario Galore was up for this version. but very similar to the All-Stars combo, as it has the same games included, with the addition of Super Mario World.

Yohi's Island
Rarity:
Rare, came near the end of the snes.
One of the last system boxes to be made. Colourful box, and a colourful game to match.

SNES2 NTSC
Rarity:
Rare, the N64 over shadowed it's release.
The Super Nintendo 2 was released late in the SNES life cycle, with this box version compiling Yoshi's Island for company.

SNES2 NTSC

Rarity:
Rare.
Tetris Attack was featured in this SNES2 7 Game pak combo for, only in NTSC format.
